Fitness – The Big Social U-Turn.

At one time, living a healthy lifestyle was totally uncool. And if you went for a jog each morning, then the chances were that you would get called a ‘health freak’ or something far worse!

But my oh my; how times have changed! These days it is total hip to keep yourself in good shape. In fact the roles have pretty much reversed altogether and it is now really lame to live in an unhealthy way.

It’s funny how things change in our society…

Work Hard & Feel The Difference

Most of my time in the gym is spent helping those members who have paid extra for my training expertise. However there are times where there are gaps in my schedule and I wander around the gym floor keeping an eye out for additional clients. It’s quickly obvious to my eyes who could really benefit from my advice, although they have to have self-discipline and a desire to really want to change their diet and exercise regime for it to work.

Now I know there are those who would say that they pay enough for their general membership and that by keying in a few search terms into Google they can throw together their own workout. Really??? The gym I work at has some reasonable rates for the fees involved, so that’s one problem solved. As for the exercise routine, I’ve watched the amateurish efforts of enough gym members to know that by the end of their session they’ll have barely shaved off any calories at all. I mean you just have to look at their t-shirts as they head towards the locker room, there’s barely any dampness showing.

If you’re exercising properly you should be hurting afterwards and your top should be soaked with sweat, requiring a thorough wringing. I think some of them are just scared about the effort involved, having seen me and the other trainers put committed gym members through their paces. These rather sedate gym members appear to be happy remaining within their comfort zone, which is sad.

I continually try to engage these gym members through one-off sessions free of charge. I run through a variety of exercises that I’m pretty confident they’ve never tried before and by the end of the session they know what to expect if they stick with me. Some straight out say it’s not for them, others give non-committal responses, whilst a few decide to risk it. The latter group are very grateful by the end of three months as they can physically see the differences my regime has wrought. Will you be one of them?

What a Personal Trainer Needs to Know.

Being a personal trainer is all about taking good care of people. You see, keeping yourself fit and healthy may sound simple enough, but it can actually be a very complicated business. If you don’t, then you cannot possibly give your clients the advice that they need when it comes to keeping themselves healthy!

Here are just a few important areas that I deal with in my job –

How to Stay Fit on a Tight Schedule

Perhaps one of the biggest hindrances to one’s ability to get fit or stay fit is time. After coming home from work, often it’s after 6:30pm and all people really want to do is grab some dinner and relax. It’s incredibly easy to fall into a routine that cuts out exercise completely due a simple lack of time and energy. Here are some quick and easy tips on how to stay healthy even when you’re busy.

Sprint to the goal

If you are struggling to find the time and motivation to complete several hour long exercise sessions a week, then sprints might be a solution for you. Adopted by many premiership football clubs as a replacement for long cross country runs, sprint training uses short high intensity exercises that have been proven to increase your stamina in a shorter time than the traditional long jogs. These exercises are becoming more and more popular and offer a time saving short cut to fitness.

Is cross country fun?

I guess most of you reading this blog will answer a resounding yes to the above question – otherwise why would you find yourself reading a page dedicated to all things cross country? But there are lots of people out there for whom the words “cross country” still strike terror into the hearts, reminding them of sadistic games teachers who sent them off into the frozen wilderness while they stayed in their warm office drinking cups of tea. Reminding them of coming back to school covered from head to toe in stinking mud and then having to endure the horror of the communal showers. Reminding them of getting lost in the trails around the back of the lake and coming back to school so late that they missed most of the next period. OK, that last one wasn’t so bad but if I told you that all of the above happened to me, then it’s amazing I’m still into cross country running at all!

Importance of Health at Workplace

Importance of Health at Workplace

The importance of health at work depends on the point that it’s linked to the productiveness of the workforce. A company must give importance towards the healthcare of their workers thru its policies. I am not saying that a company should even pay for the paternity tests but the basic healthcare should be covered by the company. If the company shows interest for the wellness of its staff, they’ll also in return feel much more accountable and faithful towards the company. This improves staff retention, minimizes sick leaves and reduces company’s healthcare expenses.
On the flip side, being a worker, it’s also advisable to take better care of your wellbeing, in both work and also in your home. As a result you will feel a lot livelier and you’ll be capable of carrying out both easy and intense tasks without the need of driving yourself very hard. Once the mental and physical state is exempt from stress, you will then be equipped to handle your everyday tasks at work with a positive frame of mind. You’ll really feel inspired to complete the work in hand and will also be interested to operate in newer areas. Your body and mind will focus more on the positives and won’t be frustrated concerning the negatives, allowing you to sleep well at the end of the day. Therefore, you don’t have to begin each day with a joint pain or body ache or upset stomach. There is no need to get sick leave too frequently and you’ll recieve your regular monthly income at the ending of each month with no deductions.

Slim up for the summer

Slim up for the summer

Summer is, according to some, the best season of them all. However, those hot days are also a challenge for us, bodybuilders. Why – well first of all there are no longer three, four layers of clothes to hide your belly, you are hot all the time and most importantly your body gets exposed. That is the reason why summer is usually the time for burning up fat and showing out those muscles of yours. However, this is almost always very, very tricky. It is one thing to eat like a horse and gain muscles and lots of fat and completely different thing to burn the body fat and slim up.

First of all, you need to change your diet because, as we all know, the diet is the single most important thing for a bodybuilder. Eliminate all sugars, or in other words everything that could raise your insulin levels. Also try to eat less carbohydrates; this includes rice, potatoes, pasta and bread. Only whole meal bread is allowed, but not white, because it is bad for you, just like white diesel is bad for your twin turbocharged BMW. Eat a lot of vegetables and a lot of meat, eggs and other protein rich foods. This is important if you want to preserve your muscle tissue intact. You will also need to change your training program. Try to do cardio exercises at least 3, 4 times a week. Running and rowing are the best ways to burn fat, stay energized and improve your overall well-being.
